The Tecumseh Public Schools Board of Education approved an educational plan for returning to school amid the COVID 19 pandemic in a special board meeting on July 21.

The plan which was drafted by Superintendent Tom Wilsie and Assistant Superintendent  Robert Kinsey was compiled using data from multiple sources on how to safely return to a traditional learning environment.

"Of course this is still an extremely fluid situation we are working with. So at this time we are planning to begin school on August 20 and will be offering three types of instructional plans," said Wilsie.

"Parents will make the ultimate decision on how to best educate their children in the 2020-21 school year. We want nothing more than to give our students a quality education  in the safest environment possible.  That has always been our goal and we work very hard to meet that goal daily," he added.

The return to learning plan, which was approved in a 5-0 vote, consists of measures to be taken including mandatory masks for all students and staff, campus visitor restrictions, what to do when a student or staff member receives a positive COVID 19 diagnosis, social distancing guidelines, food services to be offered and transportation issues.
