Mind Games

Students in high school psychology class were challenged to broaden their critical thinking skills by constructing mazes with a partner.  The students were given a box top, straws, scissors and tape and were asked to build a maze with at least one way out.  When the project was completed student groups exchanged their mazes with other groups to see if there were workable solutions to the newly built maze.

"I like to encourage our kids to think outside the box so to speak.  To come up with more than one way to solve a problem," said psychology teacher Kelli Kuhn.  "I tell them that the brain wants and needs to be challenged and that developing stronger thinking skills comes with maturity but also a lot of experience from having to think through problems for a solution."

Psychology class, which is an elective credit, is once again being offered to students at the Krouch College-Career S.T.E.A.M. Center after having been put on hiatus for some time due to staffing shortages. The class is open to all grades.
