Lacrosse clinic will be December 13
Wednesday, December 12, 2018

Students across the school district will have the opportunity to learn about the sport of lacrosse at a clinic to be held on December 13.

The clinic is free and will be at the  FireLodge gym located at 2365 S. Gordon Cooper Dr. in Shawnee.  Session one will be offered to children in Kindergarten - 5th grade from 5:00-5:45 pm, while students in grades 6 - 12 will be instructed from  5:45-6:30 pm. The clinic is for boys and girls and students do not have to be an enrolled tribal member to take advantage of this clinic.

Clinic hosts will have lacrosse sticks to borrow at each practice for anyone who will have the need.

Lacrosse sports involve a wooden stick and ball that teammates can play with either outdoors or indoors. The sport has significant status in many Native American tribes across North America and has become very popular again with American youth.  Leagues and tournaments are easily accessible and many leagues offer the chance to play for national championships. The sport is recognized by the International Olympic Committee and numerous colleges, especially in the northeastern United States offer college scholarships to play.
