Plan of Study Framework

Class pacing at THS is designed similar to college courses. There are four, 90 minute periods in a day, and a full course is completed in just one semester. There is also a 35 minute study hall period, Savage Time, where students can go to one of their four scheduled teachers and get extra time to work on assignments.

9th Gr. Classes

Must have 0-11 credits to be considered a Freshman.

10th Gr. Classes

Must have 12-23 credits to be considered a Sophomore.

11th Gr. Classes

Must have 24-33 credits to be considered a Junior.

12th Gr. Classes

Must have 34+ credits to be considered a Senior.

Requesting Schedule Changes

Schedule requests are initially created in March of the previous school year with student's advisors. It is highly advised to get schedules correct the first time because depending on availability, class size, popularity of said class seats will fill up quickly, and students will have to wait until the next semester to take the class.

Schedule changes are available the first week of the new nine weeks. Students must see their school counselor (Honsinger: 9th-10th Grade, Meyers: 11th-12th Grade) to make official changes to their schedule.

Reasons schedules will NOT be changed:

  • Wanting to be in the same class as friends

  • To change teachers

THS offers many different Clubs & Organizations to be a part of! By clicking the link you'll find more information about each of them.

Partnership Programs

GCTC

Vocational courses are offered to Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors through GCTC - free of charge as long as they start the program while at THS. The classes taken at GCTC are considered dual credits. See your counselor/advisor for more info, or click on the image.

Seminole

We offer concurrent class for Juniors and Seniors through Seminole State College. Students can receive up to 18 credits by graduation. The classes taken at SSCOK are considered dual credits. See your counselor/advisor for more info, or click on the image.

lc

Alternative education follows the philosophy that life doesn't always happen in a straight line. There are always going to be curves in the road that must be navigated with care. Students must be a Jr. or Sr. and have 26 credits to apply.  See Vice Principal Buss for more info.

Intern

Through internships, students are introduced to a chosen career field as an overview of the path of education to that profession. This opportunity is offered to Juniors and Seniors. See your counselor/advisor for more info, or click on the image.

Scholarship Information

ACT

Registration forms are available in the counseling office.  It is given nationally 5 times per year and is the entrance exam required for most colleges.  The highest composite score is considered by college admissions officers.  Juniors are encouraged to take the ACT and repeat the test their senior year if a higher score is desired.

fasfa

  • Create your FSA ID by clicking the image above. Students & parents will need an FSA ID.

  • Once your FSA ID is approved (usually 3-5 days), you will receive an email stating that you can complete the FASFA.

Any student planning to attend college or tech school will likely be required to complete a FASFA regardless of income. If you have any questions please speak to Mrs. Meyers.

Keys to Completing Scholarship Applications:

  1. Read the ENTIRE application.

  2. If the application requires a transcript, request one from the main office.

  3. Fill out all of the application under the student heading. Be sure to sign it and have your parent sign if required.

  4. Complete the application neatly. When essays or written paragraphs are required, write (or type) them on separate sheets of paper. Polish them carefully, using good grammar and punctuation, then write them on the application to be sent. Messy or illegible applications can cost you money.

  5. If you need a counselor or principal to complete part of an application, be sure your part is completed, and then submit it to the Counseling Office two weeks in advance when possible. Your counselor will make every effort to meet deadlines, but please help by submitting applications early.

  6. When listing honors, offices held, and school/community activities, include everything in grades 9-12. If something is appropriate, include it. Also include any work experience.

  7. Keep a college folder with photo copies of personal essays and letters of recommendation. General recommendation letters can be used several times if you have good quality copies, especially for local scholarships later in the year.
