Tecumseh Fire Department presents program
Thursday, October 10, 2019

It is believed by many that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Or at least that’s what local fire heroes think at Tecumseh’s fire department when it comes to staying alive in a fire disaster. So in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week which is October 6-12 the fire clowns presented a lively and informative program to pre-k and kindergarten students on the dangers of fire.

Students learned how to escape a house fire, how to call for help and how important it is to designate in advance an outside meeting place when exiting a burning structure. Combined with role play and a lot of clown comedy, students viewed examples of escape techniques, how to recognize fire hazards and when to tell an adult when they see possible fire danger.

The program is designed to prevent unnecessary death in house fires due to a lack of fire safety education.  Many times the conversation which begins at school about fire safety goes home with students and they share with their families, which encourages everyone to be more fire aware.
