THS sports update - Congratulations to Jace Frazier who has qualified for the state wrestling tournament after finishing 3rd at 152 lbs in the western regional tournament.
Tecumseh's district basketball playoff is tonight at Heritage Hall. Girls will play at 6pm and the boys game starts at 7:30pm. There is no general admission seating available but both games will be broadcast on the NFHS network for a fee of 10.99.

Students at Tecumseh Public Schools will temporarily switch to a distance learning day on Thursday, February 25 so that teachers and staff can attend the COVID vaccine clinic. Attendance will be counted for this day and students must log into the Canvas learning platform for assignments and meetings with teachers. All school site offices will remain open but classrooms will be closed. We will return to in person learning on February 26.

Tecumseh students in all grades will return to in-person learning tomorrow, February 22 at the regular time. We want to thank our numerous school support personnel, county and city workers for the extra hours they have put in this past week keeping our school buildings secure and roads safe during the recent winter weather spell. Their work is sincerely appreciated.

Message for students using school issued iPads as of February 18 -- Instructional Technology personnel have been working to resolve the problem keeping our students from logging in to Canvas and are hoping this latest issue has been repaired. Please have your student reboot/restart the iPad when convenient and log into the Canvas account. If there are continued problems after restarting the device today, please contact your child's teacher or site principal via email. Include the student's first and last name/grade and a telephone number where you can be reached. Our teachers will then forward this student information to our IT department so that further action can be taken. Thank you for your help and patience with this process.

Distance learning will continue for Tecumseh Public Schools on Friday, February 19. Subfreezing temperatures have prevented many secondary roads from thawing enough to safely run our bus routes as well as provide safe passage for our parents and students who would be driving children to school. Following the warmer weather forecast for this weekend and necessary for road clearing, we hope to return to in-person learning next week. Assignments and communication from teachers will be posted to the Canvas learning platform.

Tecumseh Public Schools will remain on distance learning for Thursday, February 18. Students in all grades should be logging into the Canvas learning platform each day to receive credit for attendance. We realize however, that unexpected power outages across the district could make this difficult for some families and we understand. Please make every attempt to keep communication up to date with your child's teachers as you are able.

Parents -- If your child is using an iPad school issued device and you are having difficulty logging in at this time and receiving an "error message" from the device, we have been made aware of the problem. The IT department is currently working on a solution and we will update you as this occurs. This is a problem only related to our iPads. Thank you for your patience.

Tecumseh Public Schools will remain on distance learning for Tuesday and Wednesday, February 16-17 due to extreme winter weather conditions. Students should log in to Canvas for assignments and communication from all teachers on both days in order to receive credit for attendance. These are not snow days. Attendance will be taken for all students.

Tecumseh Public Schools will be dismissed from class on Monday, February 15. This is a school holiday to observe Presidents Day so check in on the Canvas learning platform will NOT be required of any students. However, students are strongly encouraged to stay current in all class assignments while we are on this break from in person learning. This is also a great time for children to do some extra READING! Parents, make sure you are monitoring your child's academic progress and email teachers if you have questions about assignments or grades. Temperatures and wind chills are extremely dangerous so stay warm and safe. Future weather-related school closings will be announced as the situation unfolds.

Tecumseh Families,
Tecumseh Public Schools will be serving "Grab and Go" meals today, February 12th, from noon to 1pm. Meals will be served curbside through the circle drive on the south side of Cross Timbers Elementary. Students in all grades are eligible to receive the meals.

Just a reminder - Our food service employees are currently handing out FREE "Grab and Go" meals right now for Tecumseh students in all grades. Our pick up site is on the south side of Cross Timbers Elementary through the circle drive. We will stay open until 1pm or while our supply lasts, whichever comes first.

Due to extreme winter weather conditions, Tecumseh Public Schools will remain on distance learning for Friday, February 12. Students should log in to Canvas for assignments and communication from all teachers in order to receive credit for attendance. This is not a snow day. Attendance will be taken for all students. A recorded telephone message will be forthcoming with details for a student meal distribution for Friday when we have finalized the plan.

Since weather conditions have not improved, students at Tecumseh Public Schools will remain on distance learning for Thursday, February 11. All procedures for checking in on the Canvas learning platform for assignments and announcements are expected for this day in order for students to receive credit for attendance.

Tecumseh Public Schools will switch to distance learning for Wednesday, February 10 due to declining road conditions predicted for this evening. Students should log in to Canvas for assignments and communication from all teachers in order to receive credit for attendance. This is not a snow day. Attendance will be taken for all students.

Please read the following important message from TPS Instructional Technology department regarding the use of school issued internet hot spots:
If your child has checked out a Verizon or AT&T hot spot from the school for connectivity, please do not leave the device plugged into an outlet to charge continuously. Doing so will cause the battery to overheat and make the device unusable. Once the status light on the device turns blue or green, take it off the charger until it turns red at which time it can then be recharged. We appreciate your help in maintaining these hot spot devices while they are in use by your children.

Barnard students did a great job of looking really old as they celebrated the 100th day of school on February 4. Look at these terrific costumes! Go to the Our World page on the Barnard homepage to see the rest.

Barnard parents -- Tomorrow, February 4 is our 100th day of school and we want our first and second grade students to celebrate with us. Our kids are welcome to wear costumes that have 100 things attached to it or dress like they are "100 years old" to help us mark this special day of learning.
