Tecumseh Public Schools Student Transfers

Thank you for visiting our website to learn more about our district's student transfer policy. We appreciate your interest in Tecumseh Public Schools where we continually seek excellence in education. We do our best to welcome additional students to our district whenever it is possible.

Tecumseh Public Schools makes decisions about student transfers in accordance with district policy and state law. You can download our comprehensive district policy below. The following information is provided for your convenience:

  • The Oklahoma State Department of Education requires that the following form be completed to apply for a transfer: https://5il.co/13eo2

  • Paper copies of the form can also be picked up at our district’s Board of Education Office located at 1301 E. Highland Street in Tecumseh. The office is open from 8 AM to 5 PM on business days except for holidays.

  • Completed forms should be hand-delivered or mailed to the Board of Education Office at the above address.

  • Decisions about transfers for the 2022-2023 school year will be made by July 11, 2022. We will contact parents directly about the approval status of their child’s transfer on or before that date.

  • Mid-year transfer requests will be considered within 5 business days of the district receiving the application at the Board of Education Office.

  • New transfers are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis based on the order that your child's application is received at the Board of Education Office. Students who currently attend the district on a transfer during the 2021-2022 school year will be automatically accepted pending receipt of the new transfer application form linked above and formal approval from the district. The law also gives preference to children of active-duty military personnel.

  • To accept a transfer, student enrollment in the grade that the parent/guardian requests must be below the district-established capacity. The district’s most recent capacity numbers for each grade and school can be found below.

  • Transfers may be denied based on capacity, attendance, and discipline issues.

  • Transfers for siblings must be considered separately.

  • If the grade a student requests is over capacity, he/she will be offered the opportunity to be placed on a waiting list.

  • Transfer students must abide by eligibility requirements established by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA) for OSSAA-sanctioned activities.

  • Transfer decisions may be appealed by sending written notice to the Superintendent of Tecumseh Public Schools within 10 days of receiving notice of transfer denial.  During the appeal, you would have the opportunity to address the Board of Education in executive session to discuss how the district did not follow the transfer policy.  The Board will have opportunity to ask questions before deciding whether to overturn or uphold the transfer denial.

Tecumseh Public Schools Board of Education set the class size capacities found below for each grade level at the Board of Education Meeting held on December 13, 2021.  The board will review and confirm or re-establish these capacities again at the Regular Board of Education Meeting scheduled for March 7, 2021.

The enrollment numbers listed below are accurate as of the end of the first semester - December 20, 2021.  Please note that enrollment numbers and availability for some grade levels may have changed.

The Student Transfer application can be downloaded at the link found below or one can be given to you at the Tecumseh Board of Education Office.  Please print the finished application and deliver it in person to the Tecumseh Board of Education Office located at 1301 E. Highland Street, Tecumseh, OK 74873.  You can also mail the original application to the same address.
